Best Hotels in Athens, Greece: PAME House

When I first started looking for the best hotels in Athens, Greece, I was overwhelmed. I knew I wanted to stay in a hotel that was close to the Acropolis, had tons of cafes and restaurants around it, and was, well, trendy and cool. It also had to be fairly budget-friendly. As with all major cities around the world, however, the list of hotels is endless. I scoured travel site after travel site looking for a place that met all of my requirements. I even searched on Airbnb multiple times.

After several weeks of searching (and with my trip approaching quickly), I still hadn't found anything I liked. There were tons of hotels near the Acropolis, but none of the hotels in my budget were really that enthralling. At this point, I almost gave up and booked a basic hotel that was semi-near the Acropolis and city center just to get it over with. During one final scan of the various travel websites, however, I discovered the PAME House.

The PAME House is a brand new boutique hotel in Athens, Greece. And I mean brand new; the hotel literally opened a month or so ago. The hotel is run by a few young guys that are passionate about creating a cool, trendy place for visitors to stay right in the heart of Athens. This passion was evident from the moment we showed up at the hotel. We were immediately greeted on the street, given a full tour of the hotel and our room, and then provided with free breakfast upon arrival. Needless to say, it was a very nice welcome and start to the vacation.

So, if you, like me, are struggling to find a cool, budget-friendly hotel in the heart of Athens, Greece, check out the PAME House. It is definitely one of the most unqiue hotels I've ever stayed in, and is by far one of the best hotels in Athens, Greece. Here are a few more reasons as to why staying with the PAME House may be the right move for you:

Location

The PAME House is located right in the Athens city centre. That means that it is close to tons of cafes, restaurants, bars and shops. In fact, there is an incredibly beautiful square filled with patios and restaurants right out the PAME House's front door, making it easy to have some drinks and food after a long day of exploring. The PAME House is also only about a ten minute walk from the Acroplois, so it's a good place to station yourself if you plan on exploring ancient Athens.

Free Breakfast at Frog's

This part was a little unexpected, but instantly became one of the best parts of the PAME House experience. The free breakfast that's included in the room rate doesn't happen at the PAME House; it happens at a cafe called Frog's down the road. Frog's is a very trendy cafe with splatter painted walls, beers taps, and some of the best and freshest breakfast foods I've had in a while. It's also only about a thirty second walk from the PAME House hotel. The free hotel breakfast experience in an actual breakfast cafe was a huge step up from the typical buffet breakfast that most hotels serve, that's for sure.

View

Due to the way the hotel sits on the street, I don't think any room could have a bad view. All of the rooms appear to face out towards the beautiful square mentioned above. That means that you're always kind of looking out at some action, while you're relaxing on your balcony above. I believe most of the rooms also have a partial Acropolis view, too. This view alone was enough to get me stoked to get out and explore Athens.

Ambiance

Lastly, and I think this is the best part about the PAME House, is the hotel's ambiance. The door to get into the hotel is very low key and set against the backdrop of the busy square around it, giving the hotel a sort of secretive feel. Once you're inside the main hallway, a pink neon light that states "No Room for Small Dreams" illuminates the dark hallway. That motivational sign, along with the stack of Athens maps resting on the table below it, are enough to make any person get pumped about exploring the beautiful city of Athens, Greece.

The rooms themselves offer an incredible contrast from the dark entry hallway, as the walls are super white and glow with the large amount of natural sunlight that pours in. All of the decor in the rooms is also super modern and clean. As mentioned above, the hotel is literally brand new, so every piece of furniture is in pristine condition. Based on our experience with the hotel staff, I believe the furniture and rooms will stay pristine for a long time to come.

The best part of the hotel's ambiance, though, is on the balconies. Not only do the balconies have a great view of the Athens city centre and the Acropolis, they also have vintage style bathtubs on them. Yes, you saw that right. Vintage-style bathtubs. The bathtubs are a very random sight to see, but their chrome claw feet and porcelain tubs look incredible against the Athens backdrop. And, after a long day of exploring the streets and the Acropolis, soaking in a cool bath, staring out at Athens and enjoying a glass of wine is the perfect way to end any day on vacation.

So, if you're looking to find a hotel in Athens that is close to the Athens city centre, within walking distance to the Acropolis, and is a trendy, boutique hotel, check out the PAME House. It is budget-friendly, definitely one of the most unique hotels I've ever been to, and for sure one of the best hotels in Athens, Greece.
